The homes of Capitol View Park are a legacy of the development and varying architectural styles popular in the East Coast in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, including the characteristically "Victorian" Queen Anne style, with gables, turrets, and elaborate exterior ornamentation such as patterned shingles and carved trim; the Shingle style, with its trademark weathered wooden shingles; the Cottage style; and numerous examples of the bungalow style that became popular after 1900, known for its low profile and large front porches.
